Gulf Shores, Ala. — (GSN) — As autumn arrives along the Alabama Gulf Coast, local families can look forward to one of the region’s most anticipated seasonal traditions: the annual Boo at the Zoo Halloween celebration. Scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, this morning event offers a full slate of scare-free, family-friendly festivities.Scare-Free Festivities for All Ages


Held at the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo (20499 Oak Road East in Gulf Shores), the event transforms the grounds into an autumn destination for kids and parents alike. Highlights include:

  • Trick-or-Treating: Community sponsors, local organizations, and zoo staff set up treat stations across the park to hand out candy and goodies.
  • Animal Ambassador Meet-and-Greets: Zoo staff walk around presenting select animal ambassadors, giving visitors the chance to see creatures like Pina the cockatoo and Hershey the snake up close.
  • Costumes & Golden Ticket Prizes: Costumes are encouraged for all ages. Guests wearing their best family-friendly outfits have the chance to win a Golden Ticket, which can be redeemed for a prize at the zoo gift shop.


Supporting Wildlife & Community Programs

Boo at the Zoo is both a festive event and a community fundraiser. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo directs all event proceeds toward animal care, facility maintenance, and ongoing conservation and education initiatives.Admission & Event Details


Boo at the Zoo is included with regular zoo admission, so no separate event pass is needed:

  • Adults (ages 13–61): $23.95
  • Seniors (62+) & Military: $20.95
  • Children (ages 3–12): $15.95
  • Zoo Members & Children 2 and under: Free (Membership card required at entrance)


Visitor Tips:

  • Bring Treat Bags: Guests must bring their own bags or buckets for collecting candy.
  • Attraction Schedules: Regular Animal Encounters and the 10:00 AM Giraffe Feeding will be closed during the event hours.
  • Rain or Shine: Activities proceed rain or shine, moving under the covered event center pavilion if inclement weather occurs.
