The new school building are scheduled to open in 2026

Gulf Shores School Construction

Officials with the City of Gulf Shores toured the construction site of the new high school this week. Members of their team, including Mayor Craft, were guided by Volkert Engineering and Rabren Construction. The facilities are scheduled to be completed in 2026, before the start of the next school year.


The 287,000 square foot structured, deemed the school of the future, is being built with a design that emphasizes both STEAM and creative learning.

The City stated "The new school represents a major investment in the future of Gulf Shores students, offering innovative opportunities in academics, the arts, and athletics." The projected was estimated to cost $131 million.


The high school will feature specialized academy labs for fields such as biomedical sciences, marine biology, culinary arts, and finance. Additionally, it will house spaces dedicated to music production, broadcasting, and other arts, enabling students to pursue various interests.


In a recent social media post the city provided a  list of school offerings to include:


• Biomedical Sciences

• Marine Biology

• Culinary Sciences

• Finance

• Maker Spaces

• Art Studio

• Music Lab

• Broadcast Television Studio

• Performing Arts Studio

• Applied Design



Athletics is also a major focus, with:

• Varsity & JV locker rooms

• Two gymnasiums

• Athletic training rooms

• Field house

• Covered practice pavilion
