Get in the Festive Spirit with Flora-Bama's Charity Run

gulf shores event news

Flora-Bama is calling all to “Make it to the Line just in time for Christmas.” On Saturday, December 23rd, the Flora-Bama with local sponsor Exit Reality are hosting a Run/Walk that’s designed for the whole family. Participants are encouraged to theme their running gear with all the jingle bells and polar express whistles of the Holiday season.

Local realtor for Exit Realty Gulf Shores and fitness enthusiast Amanda Vogel expresses how much she loves “anything fitness for a cause.” The race will benefit the “Pirates of Lost Treasure Secret Santa program” that will aid families in need with items like clothing, special gifts, food and more. Vogel, once an avid race participant, took a step back in years past as a mother of two young children. She says that now her and her husband have been encouraging their children to compete. Recently, as a family, they finished their first 1-mile fun run with the Flora-Bama and are excited to be joining the Bamily for another fun run. Vogel expresses, “what better way to get into the Christmas spirit than to dress for the holiday and sign up as a family,” to help other families in need.

For the serious competing racers, official timekeepers and interfaces with “International Racing” will be used, however, “this is a family fun event to help Secret Santa provide for the less fortunate in the area.” So come one come all this is sure to be one super Santa charged jolly event with all the holiday feels. With joy, Vogel states, “we are hoping for a large turnout and a lot of Christmas Spirit!” We hope you can make it, “Make it to the Line run.”

Participants should register online with the link

Tracking fish with sonar has been available to the public since 1948, when the famous Furuno brothers introduced the product in their native Japan. A 'salty' charter captain might add that it was Lowrance that brought it to the U.S. fishing market. But whomever you credit, NOAA has now combined it with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide better chart mapping and even fish count locations of fish in the gulf. The results could impact local fishing seasons in the future.

It’s Saturday morning, the second day of the 6A Section 1 Track Meet at Saraland High School. Coach Brewer has piloted the Dolphins bus to this place several times this season, but today a thick, milky fog has engulfed the panorama, limiting the vision of what’s ahead, save for head coach Jason Hill. He’s studied today’s upcoming events and is hopeful for the upset.
