Top Collegiate Archers Aim for Glory in Foley Championship

Foley, Alabama is once again the venue for the USA Archery National 3D Collegiate Championship. This marks the seventh consecutive year the city has hosted the event. Teams from across the United States, from California to New York, are participating.

The championship is organized in partnership with the Archery Shooters Association (ASA). According to ASA Event Director Mike Tyrell, the competition features eight classes. These include men's and women's compound bow, with fixed pins and movable site classes, barebow recurve, and Olympic recurve.

Unlike ASA's six annual Pro/Am competitions, this event focuses on both individual and team competitions. The event begins with a team mixer on the first day, followed by head-to-head team competitions on Saturday.

USA Archery CEO Rod Menzer emphasized the high level of talent among the collegiate archers. Many have won international medals this year. The event promises to be a showcase of skill, rivalry, intensity, and drama.

David Thompson, Executive Director of City of Foley Leisure Services, noted the uniqueness of collegiate athletics. He said the event offers these young archers a chance to be part of something special. The experience of competing on a national stage will stay with them forever.

The championship will culminate in an awards banquet and team final shoot on October 7 at the Foley Event Center. The entire event is open to the public, and Saturday's activities will be live-streamed on the
Foley Event Center's Facebook Page.

Tracking fish with sonar has been available to the public since 1948, when the famous Furuno brothers introduced the product in their native Japan. A 'salty' charter captain might add that it was Lowrance that brought it to the U.S. fishing market. But whomever you credit, NOAA has now combined it with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide better chart mapping and even fish count locations of fish in the gulf. The results could impact local fishing seasons in the future.
