Foley's beloved Midday Melodies, a lunchtime music extravaganza, is set to kick off this October at Heritage Park. The event, known for its soul-soothing tunes and community spirit, will run every Wednesday throughout the month.


Starting at 11 a.m. and continuing until 2 p.m., the melodies will resonate near the iconic clock tower in Heritage Park. With an unwavering commitment to safety, Midday Melodies will be entirely outdoors, providing ample space for social distancing.


Attendees are encouraged to bring their picnic blankets or lawn chairs, creating a cozy atmosphere to enjoy the music. For those who prefer dining options, Foley's downtown restaurants are just a stone's throw away, or visitors can opt to bring their meals. Additionally, concessions will be available courtesy of the Masonic Lodge.


Heritage Park, spanning a generous seven acres, offers plenty of room for attendees to spread out comfortably while adhering to social distancing guidelines.


The musical lineup for October includes This Side of 49 on October 4th, followed by Zack Chavers on October 11th. On October 18th, Jesse Taylor Perry will take the stage, and the series will conclude with a performance by Just Roger on October 25th.

A decorated urn containing human ashes washed up on Gulf Shores beach this past week, starting a mystery that local police have now solved. The container was discovered by people walking along the shore on West Beach on April 17. The urn had no name or identification on the outside.

Allegiant Airlines is scheduled to begin it's round-trip airlines service in May. Initially the flight will service six different cities with direct flights to Gulf Shores. The airport is rapidly finishing work on a new passenger terminal to accommodate the non-stop airline service.
