Gulf Shores, Ala. — (GSN) —  Officer Peyton Hardy has been named Patrol Officer of the Month for March 2026, following a period of high activity and consistent performance. The recognition highlights his work responding to calls, making arrests, and maintaining a visible presence. Supervisors cited his productivity and professionalism. The award reflects his overall contributions to the department.

The recognition covers Officer Hardy’s work in March 2026, which includes the department’s Spring Break Detail. During this period, officers are expected to maintain a strong, visible presence along the beachfront. The increased activity requires additional focus and consistent enforcement.

According to the department, Officer Hardy responded to 178 calls for service, including 137 self-initiated calls. He made 7 self-initiated arrests, including 1 felony arrest. He also conducted 49 vehicle stops, completed 17 foot patrols, and filed 16 offense reports.

Supervisors described Officer Hardy as dependable and consistent in his duties. “Officer Hardy comes to work every shift with a positive attitude and has a strong work ethic,” supervisors stated. They added that he is someone the department can rely on to complete assigned tasks.

Supervisors also noted his extra efforts during Spring Break. “Officer Hardy assisted with Spring Break even on days he was not scheduled for overtime,” the nomination stated. They said he maintained a strong presence at the beachfront and made several notable arrests.

On March 10, 2026, Officer Hardy conducted a proactive field interview that established probable cause for a search. The investigation led to criminal charges and the recovery of a firearm reported stolen in Mobile, Alabama.

Additional incidents during the month included multiple proactive arrests in the beachfront area. In one case, Officer Hardy assisted with the arrest and transport of an extremely intoxicated individual who became hostile and damaged a patrol vehicle.

During the incident, the individual urinated inside the vehicle and spat on Officer Hardy multiple times. Despite the situation, Officer Hardy maintained a professional response. The individual was evaluated and later transferred to a detention facility.

Supervisors said the demands of Spring Break can be overwhelming, but noted Officer Hardy’s consistent attitude. They stated that he demonstrated readiness and commitment throughout the month while meeting expectations for increased enforcement presence.

The department concluded its recognition by commending his performance. Supervisors noted that his work ethic, proactive policing, and professionalism contributed to his selection as the March 2026 Patrol Officer of the Month.
