New summer routes include Huntsville, Louisville, Omaha, Springfield and Oklahoma City

Gulf Shores Announces New Allegiant Routes

Gulf Shores International Airport will see a major increase in summer flights in 2026. Allegiant plans to add five new destinations to its schedule at the coastal airport. The expansion will bring the total to thirteen nonstop routes. The airline will operate thirty flights each week during the peak season.

Allegiant’s expanded summer service is scheduled to run from May 20 through August 18, 2026. During that period, the carrier will offer a mix of returning seasonal routes and new destinations. The added flights are expected to give visitors more options to reach the Alabama Gulf Coast.

The five new cities were announced on Tuesday as part of Allegiant’s 2026 summer plans. New nonstop service will connect Gulf Shores International with Huntsville, Louisville, Omaha, Springfield, and Oklahoma City. These routes will operate multiple times each week.

Flights to Huntsville in north Alabama will operate twice per week. Louisville, Kentucky will also see two flights per week from Gulf Shores. Allegiant will fly to Omaha, Nebraska two times weekly as well. Springfield, Missouri will receive two flights each week during the summer schedule.

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma will have the most frequent service among the new destinations. Allegiant plans to operate three flights per week on that route. With these additions, more travelers from the Midwest and South will be able to reach Gulf Shores on nonstop flights.

Along with the new routes, Allegiant will bring back eight seasonal destinations it has served before. Returning flights will connect Gulf Shores International to Cincinnati and Appleton. Des Moines and Belleville or St. Louis will also be part of the 2026 summer lineup.

Bentonville, Knoxville, Kansas City, and Nashville will return to the route map as well. Cincinnati and Belleville or St. Louis will each have three flights per week. Bentonville will also see three weekly flights. Appleton, Des Moines, Knoxville, Kansas City, and Nashville will have two flights per week each.

In total, Allegiant’s summer 2026 plan at Gulf Shores International includes thirteen destinations. The schedule adds up to thirty flights every week. Airport officials say the expanded service will create more nonstop opportunities for visitors and residents.

The additional routes are expected to make it easier for tourists to reach the beaches near Gulf Shores. Local travelers will also gain more options to explore other parts of the country. The seasonal schedule focuses on peak travel months when demand to and from the Gulf Coast is highest.

Booking details for the new and returning flights have not yet been released. Officials say travelers should watch Allegiant’s website for more information. More specifics on fares and schedules will be posted on
Allegiant.com as the summer 2026 season approaches.
