Gulf Shores Dolphins Finish Regular Season UNDEFEATED

Ranked #1 in State for 5A, on to playoffs

The #1 team for 5A football in the state finished their regular season with a strong win. The Gulf Shores High School Dolphins football team are now 10-0 and heading to the playoffs. This is the first undefeated season in GSHS history.


The game started with B.C. Rain making the first score just minutes into the game. The Red Raiders held a 7 point lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter the Dolphins scored 30 points and held a 30-14 lead at halftime.


One of the stand-out players for the GSHS Dolphins was Ronnie Royal. He scored with amazing returns on special teams play. Running Back Kolin Wilson equally contributed with 3 touchdowns and 106 yards rushing.


Harris and Rippy, the freshman and senior quarterbacks, had a 82.2 OB Rating. Kicker, Will Langston, averaged over 40 yards per punt and was perfect with the PATs.


Gulf Shores defense had 3 sacks in the game and 13 tackles for loss.


The final score was Gulf Shores 43 and B.C. Rain 21


ON TO THE PLAYOFFS: Gulf Shores will now play Beauregard in the first round of the 5A playoffs. The Hornets are from Opelika and have a 6-4 overall season record.

Gulf Shores City Council News

A bar with a history of being at odds with Gulf Shores city officials is going back before the city council asking permission to stay open until 3 a.m. After consulting with the police department, city staff is recommending the council deny the conditional use permit required by 'Hibas' in the Pelican Place shopping center. The matter will be one of the items on the Gulf Shores City Council work session agenda for June 16.
