The Gulf Shores Police officers do much more than protect the area, they also serve the community. Through programs like "Shop With A Cop" or helping a needing family, the staff of GSPD fulfill the mission to protect and serve. But the extra projects need special funding. That is where the Annual GSPD Golf Scramble enters.

Chief Dan Netemeyer recently stated that it takes more than team to make it successful, it takes sponsors and prizes. He stated "The Gulf Shores Police Association provides us with a mechanism to give back to this great community we serve. We have touched (and sometimes changed) the lives of so many through our Shop With a Cop Program at Christmas when we provide Christmas to dozens of families in need. Our newest program Hometown Heroes where we teamed up with Target to provide Thanksgiving Dinners and gifts to families with special needs children."

The Chief add "This golf scramble has quickly become a community event where officers interact with the participants to show off our resources via demonstrations and displays. This has made the event very popular. Our greatest need at this point are prizes and sponsorships. We like to have everyone go home with something more than a great memory."

If you would like to help by providing sponsorship to the program you can visit this website link and navigate to the sponsorship section near the bottom. There you will find opportunities ranging from $20 to $1,000, which will benefit the Gulf Shore Police Department during the year.

The 6th Annual Golf Scramble will be held this year on March 13th at the Peninsula Golf Club with an 8:30am Shotgun Start. This golf scramble has quickly become a community event where officers interact with the participants to show off resources via demonstrations and displays.

Chief Netemeyer reminded locals "Our greatest need at this point are prizes and sponsorships. We like to have everyone go home with something more than a great memory. We invite all sponsors to join us for the announcements and tee off with a true “shotgun start” the day of the tournament and set up a tent if you wish."
