Police Department Spring Break Statistics

The Alabama beaches are known for their "family friendly" atmosphere during spring break. Both Gulf Shores and Orange Beach enforce a "no alcohol on the beach" rule during the season. The local Police Departments enforce these and other rules to make sure the area does now get the reputations like Panama City, Miami and Fort Lauderdale have obtained.

This is the first week of the Spring Break season and the Gulf Shores Police Department has shared it's arrest and violation information on social media:

During the first week, there have been:

47 arrests for Underage Possession of Alcohol.

7 arrests for Driving Under the Influence.

2 arrests for Obstruction of Justice.

2 arrests for Narcotics Violations.

1 arrest for Resisting Arrest.

We invite everyone to enjoy our beautiful beaches but please be respectful and follow the local laws and regulations.

The ban on alcohol on the beach is in effect.

There is a zero-tolerance policy for Underage Possession of Alcohol.

The Gulf Shores Police released the latest results

During the 2nd week of Spring Break:

20 arrests for Underage Possession of Alcohol.

8 arrests for Public Intoxication.

2 arrests for Obstruction of Justice.

1 arrest for Resisting Arrest.

26 arrests for Narcotics Violations.

5 arrests for Driving Under the Influence.

6 arrests for Theft including shoplifting.

Foley Named Alabama's First Monarch City

Foley, Alabama has been named the first official Monarch City in the state. This announcement makes Foley part of a national movement that supports butterfly conservation and pollinator education. Monarch City USA made the designation official, recognizing Foley’s strong commitment to protecting local ecosystems and teaching residents about the importance of native species. The city is located in southern Baldwin County on Alabama’s Gulf Coast.

Changing Landscape of Orange Beach Islands Seen From Sky

The annual Memorial Weekend tradition of flying over the islands of Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Perdido Key continued on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend in 2025 with the help of Lost Bay Helicopters. Our tradition, which has been in place for well over a decade, offers an aerial perspective of the busy boating scene around the Islands of Perdido, (also known as the Orange Beach Islands or Islands at Perdido Pass).

Gulf Shores Police Launch Marine Patrol

The Gulf Shores Police Department has launched a full-time Marine Unit to improve safety on local waterways. The unit is responsible for patrolling the area, helping boaters, and responding to emergencies. The team also supports wildlife rescues and other marine-related issues. Officers are already working on the water this season and plan to grow their team.
