Gulf Shores Police Spring Break Update

Gulf Shores Police Spring Break Arrest

While this was anticipated as a lower week of occupancy for Spring Break, the Gulf Shores Police Department took this opportunity to educate visitors about the laws and proper ways to enjoy the beach environment. The Gulf Shores PD released the following recap of their recent interactions.

Over the weekend, we increased the number of officers at the beachfront. Our primary focus during the spring break season has always been education on the local laws and ordinances, asking for voluntary compliance and providing warnings where appropriate. There were a few people that did not get the message and, if they did, failed to grasp the implications of their actions.

Beginning Friday, March 22 at 6 A.M. and ending Monday March 25 at 6 A.M., GSPD and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office had the following enforcement activity:

200 plus traffic stops which resulted 131 Verbal Warnings, 51 Written Warnings, and 39 tickets.

25 Arrests for Underage Possession of Alcohol.

14 Arrests for Drugs.

6 Arrests for other offenses

1 Arrest for Theft.

1 Arrest for Public Intoxication.

Of note, GSPD and BCSO recovered three pistols from persons who are prohibited from legally possessing firearms. One of the weapons was recovered from an individual who is on federal parole.

We are a family-oriented community that welcomes everyone to come enjoy our beautiful beaches, but please remember to respect our laws and ordinances. We have a zero-tolerance, no warnings policy for Underage Possession of Alcohol, Drugs, DUI and weapons violations.
