Foley Police catch gold scammer

fake gold sold in Foley, Alabama

The Foley Police Department is wanting the public to be aware of an arrest that was made on October 26, 2023, in the event that additional victims have been scammed by the arrested person.

Dylan Thomas Jemison, age 20 from Sylacauga, Alabama, sold several 1 ounce fake gold bars to a local resident for a large sum of money. The fake gold, which Jemison was selling as real gold on Facebook Marketplace, has the appearance and packaging of real gold and passes what many would use as a test to confirm the authenticity of gold. When Jemison was arrested, he was in possession of dozens more fake gold pieces and alluded to having swindled others through the sale of fake gold.

If you have purchased "gold" from Dylan Jemison (pictured) or "gold" resembling the images below, we suggest you have your items authenticated immediately. If you believe you have purchased fake gold from Jemison or any other person, notify your local authorities immediately.

Tracking fish with sonar has been available to the public since 1948, when the famous Furuno brothers introduced the product in their native Japan. A 'salty' charter captain might add that it was Lowrance that brought it to the U.S. fishing market. But whomever you credit, NOAA has now combined it with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide better chart mapping and even fish count locations of fish in the gulf. The results could impact local fishing seasons in the future.
