One of the dwellings on the "Most Expensive Homes For Sale" list is no longer available. The home sold for over $9 million dollars. Situated on the south side of Canal Road, overlooking Bayou St. John, the property attracted strong interest from high-end buyers. Real estate experts say the sale reflects growing demand for ultra-luxury homes along Alabama’s Gulf Coast. They also note that the record-breaking price indicates a limited supply of prime waterfront lots on the island.

The closing took place on Valentine week, showing the love someone has for the waterfront property.  Matthew J. Welch with RE/MAX Paradise, the agent representing the buyer, says the price could reset expectations for future listings in the area. Beverly Kennedy with Engel & Volkers was the listing agent.

The home was built by Chad Loper of Loper Construction in Orange Beach. The house combines the charm of a classic coastal retreat with modern luxury finishes. It offers expansive views, multiple outdoor living areas, and direct access to Bayou St. John, features that contributed to the final price reaching new heights.

The sale has quickly become a hot topic among island residents and real estate enthusiasts who monitor the rapidly changing market. Some local agents believe that other owners of large waterfront estates might now consider listing their properties, motivated by the strong closing price. Others warn that the $9.25 million figure reflects a unique combination of location, design, and waterfrontage that could be difficult to duplicate.

For now, the $9.25 million sale may have set a new benchmark for island real estate and highlights how much Alabama coastal community has advanced as a luxury market. Local real estate experts will be watching closely to see whether this home's price raises market value for similar real estate listings.

There are currently two Baldwin County homes for sale at a higher price. The most expensive is over $11 million and is in a golfing community.
