Orange Beach Assistant Superintendent

Orange Beach City Schools has appointed a new Assistant Superintendent. Dr. Mary Catherine Law, the principal of Orange Beach Elementary School, has led the school for 5 years. Her strong leadership experience earned her the district's highest promotion.

The announcement was made on March 16, 2026. Dr. Law will complete the school year in her current role as principal. She will officially assume her new district leadership position in July 2026.

During her five years leading Orange Beach Elementary, the school received several prestigious honors. It was named a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School. The school also earned a 99 on the Alabama State Report Card.

Orange Beach Elementary was also named a Top 25 School in Alabama through the Legislative School Performance Recognition Program. The school received the Attorney General's Silver Model of Enhanced School Safety Award. It was also designated as an Ocean Guardian School.

The school made history as the only one in the state to achieve two consecutive years with 100% of third-grade students reading at or above grade level. That milestone stood out as one of the most remarkable achievements during Dr. Law's tenure as principal.

"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the students, families, and staff of Orange Beach City Schools in this new role," said Dr. Law.

"The work we have done at Orange Beach Elementary over the past several years has been incredibly meaningful to me, and I am excited to build on that foundation while continuing to serve a community that truly prioritizes children and their success," she added.

Dr. Law's educational background demonstrates her strong dedication to education. She earned her bachelor's degree in Communications from Auburn University. Later, she completed an Alternative Master's in Elementary Education along with a leadership certificate from the University of South Alabama.

She also holds an Education Specialist degree from Auburn University. In 2024, she received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership, also from Auburn University. That degree is the highest academic credential in her field.

Superintendent Randy Wilkes stated that the decision was made after reviewing competitive applications and conducting several rounds of interviews. He noted that the process clearly indicated the right choice.

"After reviewing several competitive applications and conducting multiple interviews, it became clear that the best person to serve our district in this role is one of our own," said Wilkes.

"Dr. Law has demonstrated outstanding leadership at Orange Beach Elementary, and her vision, dedication, and understanding of our district's culture make her the perfect fit to help lead Orange Beach City Schools into the future," he added.

In her new position, Dr. Law will focus on district-wide initiatives to improve student achievement, instructional quality, and ongoing growth across Orange Beach City Schools.
