Powerball Jackpot Grows To $1.1 Billion And Tickets Are Close

Powerball® Jackpot numbers still have no winner

Powerball over $1 Billion

Alabama still does not have a lottery but the Florida line is so close. The jackpot for Powerball® is now at $1.10 billion dollars, one of the largest in the games history. A drawing will take place at 10pm central time tonight and locals are heading to Flora-Bama for tickets.

If a single ticket is sold matching each number drawn Monday, the winner could receive a jackpot of $1.1 billion paid out in 30 annualized payments, or elect to take the lump sum of $503.4 million immediately which is the typically taken option.

If the winner takes the lump sum, federal withholding taxes of 24% would immediately bring their winnings down to $382.3 million (estimated winning/ not official).  Winners would also likely face other taxes and legal fees but that much money is still worth a couple of dollars in gas for a drive to the line.

Powerball® drawings are broadcast live every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 9:59 pm CT.

So what would you do with an extra $382 million dollars? Most big winners buy real estate, new cars, big boats and immediately pay off debt. But some have built a water park, traveled the world or even taken the winning to gamble in Las Vegas.
