City of Gulf Shores list a full month of activities

Gulf Shores Recreation and Cultural Affairs

Gulf Shores, Ala. – (GSN) – July is National Park & Recreation month. The City of Gulf Shores recently highlighted this fact with a proclamation during a meeting of the City Council and thanked the entire department for their efforts. City leaders said parks and recreation programs play an important role in health, fitness, and community life.


By observing this annual event, which is recognized across the United States, city leaders aim to highlight the essential role that local parks and recreation programs play in promoting health, wellness, environmental stewardship, and community involvement.


The city has planned a diverse lineup of events running from July 1 through July 31, catering to residents of all ages.

Gulf Shores Park & Recreation July 2026

Members who record the most visits to the Bodenhamer Center or Cultural Center during July can win a free three-month membership extension.


The City of Gulf Shores Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department serves as the backbone of the community's quality of life, diligently maintaining an extensive network of parks, athletic fields, walking trails, and public spaces. The department operates several premier facilities, including the George C. Meyer Tennis Center, which was recognized as the 2025 USTA Alabama Park and Recreation Department of the Year for its 18 courts and exceptional commitment to the sport. Committed to both heritage and innovation, the department is currently reimagining the beloved Kids Park at Sims Park while simultaneously expanding outdoor access through the development of the 53-acre Laguna Cove Nature Park, which provides wetland boardwalks, birding, and kayaking opportunities.
