Toys R Us Opens At Tanger Outlet

Foley, Ala. – (GSN) – The iconic toy retailer Toys”R”Us has officially returned to Alabama, opening a new location at the Tanger Outlets in Foley. The announcement, made via social media by the Tanger Outlets management, marks a nostalgic comeback for the beloved brand in the region.

The new store is now open for shoppers, operating daily from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Located at the Tanger Outlets, the specialty retailer is expected to be a popular destination for families visiting the Foley area. For those planning a visit or needing to reach the store directly, you can contact them at (251) 967-6568.

The history of Toys “R” Us spans over 70 years, evolving from a small niche shop into a global retail powerhouse before its eventual restructuring.

Founding: The company was founded by Charles Lazarus in 1948 as “Children’s Bargain Town,” a baby furniture store in Washington, D.C..

Brand Growth: The first store specifically branded as “Toys “R” Us” opened in 1957.

Iconic Mascot: Geoffrey the Giraffe, the company’s famous mascot, made his debut in 1965.

Diversification: The company expanded its retail footprint with the launch of Kids “R” Us in 1983, a children’s clothing retailer, and Babies “R” Us in 1996.

In addition to the Tanger location, there are hundreds of smaller Toys "R" Us "shop-in-shops" located inside Macy's department stores nationwide.
