"Instead of just one unit, why not offer the entire Gulf Place building?"

The Rotary Club of Gulf Shores/Orange Beach recently witnessed the power of community collaboration and generosity when a heartfelt mission inspired an extraordinary act of giving. During a weekly Rotary Club meeting, Ryan Charrier of Operation ReConnect spoke about their organization's commitment to helping combat veterans reconnect with their families after deployments. His presentation struck a chord with the members and ignited a chain reaction of generosity.

Operation ReConnect, a non-profit organization, provides opportunities for returning combat veterans to spend quality, uninterrupted time with their loved ones, helping them transition back into family life after the rigors of service. Understanding the critical need for such initiatives, one Rotary Club member took action, approaching the CFO of The Hangout Hospitality Group with an idea: would they consider donating a weeks stay in one of their property rentals through Lucky Bird Vacations?

The idea quickly gained momentum. When The Hangout CEO, Shaul Zislin, learned about the request, he decided to take it a step further. "This is a cause we wholeheartedly support," said Zislin. "Instead of just one unit, why not offer the entire Gulf Place building?"

The weeklong stay, scheduled for December, will provide multiple families with a much-needed getaway. Gulf Place, managed by Lucky Bird Vacations, offers luxurious accommodations, including a heated rooftop pool—perfect for enjoying even if the weather turns chilly in December. Families will be welcomed with warm hospitality, including food donated by The Hangout, gift cards for shopping at Surf Style, and opportunities to dine at some of Hangout Hospitality Groups other renowned restaurants.

Veterans and their families are traveling from across the country, with some coming from as far north as Michigan and Minnesota, to experience this heartfelt gesture of gratitude.

"This partnership is a shining example of how individuals and businesses can work together to make a meaningful difference," said Ryan Charrier of Operation ReConnect. "We’re proud to see our community rally around those who have sacrificed so much for our country."

The generosity of The Hangout Hospitality Group, the ‘Service Above Self’ motto of the Rotary Club, and the initiative of Operation ReConnect embody the true spirit of the holiday season. Plans are underway to ensure these families experience a week of relaxation, fun, and most importantly, connection.
