Pink Friday campaign to focus on local small businesses

Gulf Shores Shopping News

Several women-owned small businesses at The Wharf in Orange Beach are joining Pink Friday, a national event supporting local shopping, on November 22nd. Created by The Boutique Hub in 2020, Pink Friday aims to shift holiday spending toward small, community-focused retailers before major sales like Black Friday.

Pink Friday is a nationwide event dedicated to celebrating and supporting small and local businesses. Established in 2020, it takes place annually on the Friday before Black Friday, encouraging shoppers to discover and support small retailers first during the holiday season.

According to organizers, this focus on local spending helps boost local economies, supporting jobs and reinvesting in community services. Research indicates that each dollar spent at small businesses often circulates within the community up to seven times, making local purchases impactful.

Participating shops at The Wharf include Lucca, Crew (Kids/Baby/Tween), High Cotton Bath Company, Maho Shades, The Party Hause, Brand - Living & Giving, Seaside Shoes & SWIM, The Party House.

The Wharf's Pink Friday participants hope to attract holiday shoppers with unique goods and customer-centered service, creating an opportunity for patrons to engage directly with their community’s small businesses before larger holiday sales events. The festivities will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on November 22nd.
