Tanger has become popular hangout for a certain age

Tanger Hangout

Foley, AL. - (GSN) - Remember the days when people actually shopped in person at a mall? Not scrolling through a screen and ordering online, but meeting some friends and visiting the stores. Apparently Gen Z has rediscovered the fun of in-person mall meeting and Tanger Outlets is the beneficiary.

According to Bloomberg News, Tanger Outlets is experiencing a surge in popularity among Gen Z, who represented an estimated 30% of foot traffic in 2024–2025. The company is driving this engagement by curating brands like Coach, Aerie, and Gap, shifting to digital-first marketing, and fostering a social, experience-driven, open-air shopping environment that appeals to younger, value-conscious shoppers.

Contrary to the digital-only stereotype, Gen Z is driving a return to physical retail at Tanger for socializing, discovering new trends, and trying on products. Gen Z values the combination of premium brand discovery and 20-30% discounts, fitting their demand for both style and savings.

One Fox News contributor commented "So young people are discovering interacting in the real world is more satisfying than being a slave to a screen?"

Tanger has replaced traditional coupon books with a mobile app-based experience to match the shopping habits of younger consumers.

Maybe soon they will discover MTV, denim jackets, spandex leggings and fingerless lace gloves.
