South Baldwin Regional Medical Center listed among top state hospitals

South Baldwin Medical Center Top 10 News

South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley is on Newsweek magazine’s list of top hospitals in Alabama for 2024.

The hospital was eighth in the list of top hospitals in the state. The SBRMC was the only hospital in South Alabama to be included in the list.

Margaret Roley, chief executive officer, said the recognition reflects a team effort by all the staff members at the hospital.

“This achievement would not have been possible without the entire South Baldwin Regional Medical Center family - from the frontline healthcare heroes to the dedicated support staff. You have shown, day in and day out, that teamwork, innovation and a patient-centric approach can result in excellence that resonates across the state," Roley

said.

The magazine and the global market research and consumer data firm Statista identified the top hospitals in each state and the District of Columbia in order to help residents find the best local health care.

The list included 11 Alabama hospitals. Five of the other Alabama facilities were in Birmingham. Other listed hospitals were in Fayette, Alexander City, Huntsville, Phenix City and Montgomery.

South Baldwin Regional Medical Center is a 112-bed acute care hospital offering inpatient, outpatient, emergency, diagnostic and surgical care. The facility has more than 800 employees working in a network of medical centers serving Coastal Alabama. The SBRMC is currently undergoing a $200-million expansion that will increase the facility’s capacity to 142 beds.

The new five-story patient tower will add more than 200,000 square feet of space to the main medical campus in Foley. The new facility will house a dedicated outpatient entrance with new surgery and endoscopy suites, a women’s and children’s unit with expanded capacity, additional medical/surgical capacity with doubled ICU capacity and a shell for future growth.

The expansion is scheduled to be completed by early 2025.
