Is October the best month of the year?
It is October at the beach! Most of the nation think about the beach during summer months but the local festivities happen in the fall. There are so many events like the National Shrimp Festival, Freedom Fest and Boo at the Zoo. But lets explore some other reasons why October may be the best month of the year:
PIZZA - Did you know it is National Pizza Month? Yes, you have an excuse to try some of the great local pizza shops on the island. Calories don't count in October... right?
FOOTBALL - Now the season REALLY gets serious. You still have to wait on the Iron Bowl but the month is full of great match ups and another reason to eat pizza and wings.
OKTOBERFEST - The official month of drinking beer and eatinng brats! Now add that to the football and pizza... what a month!
BREAST CANCER AWARENESS - Take some time to support the PINK RIBBON during October. Support a great cause and share info with friends.
EAT CANDY - Now here is the trick... start buying candy for Halloween at the beginning of month, then test for the next few weeks. You have to make sure your candy is good for the kids.
HALLOWEEN - Now the best day arrives. You get to decorate your house, dress up as your fav hero or villan, and maybe scare a few friends. If you dont like to trick and treat you can always go to a bar for a beer and eat candy while watching a football game.

A decorated urn containing human ashes washed up on Gulf Shores beach this past week, starting a mystery that local police have now solved. The container was discovered by people walking along the shore on West Beach on April 17. The urn had no name or identification on the outside.
The Gulf Shores International Airport is preparing for their future growth and addition of a national airline service. Allegiant Airlines is scheduled to begin it's round-trip airlines service in May. Initially the flight will service six different cities with direct flights to Gulf Shores. The airport is rapidly finishing work on a new passenger terminal to accommodate the non-stop airline service.

The Police Chief in Panama City even posted that their community would have to stop being a spring break town. Incidents in Myrtle Beach, Daytona and Miami have those cities questioning the future of spring break along those beaches.
