Burris Market is auctioning off many business items

Local Gulf Shores Business news

Many locals have enjoyed the Burris Farm Market in Loxley for decades. Tourist have made it a "Must Stop" location on their way to the beach. Local farmers were able to sell their harvest through the outlet. After Burris Market closed their large doors in February of this year many have dreamed that someone could buy the business and keep the tradition operational. Now the nostalgic location has put an end to those dreams.

Local auctioneer, Matt Presley. has placed a sign on the building and a listing on his website that the equipment for Burris Farm Market will be sold starting October 15th at 8AM.

The auction website states: MATT PRESLEY IS PLEASED TO OFFER THE ASSETS OF ONE OF BALDWIN COUNTY'S MOST ICONIC BUSINESSES AT AUCTION! FOR DECADES, THE BURRIS FARM MARKET HAS BEEN A STAPLE IN THE LOXLEY, AL COMMUNITY AND A FAVORITE STOP FOR TRAVELLERS. WHO CAN FORGET THE GIANT BLOW-UP PEACH OR TOMATO? NOW, THIE BURRIS FARM MARKET HAS CLOSED ITS DOORS FOR GOOD, AND ALL OF THE REMAINING BUSINESS ASSETS AND BUILDING COMPONENTS WILL BE SOLD AT THIS ONE DAY, LIVE AUCTION

There are many rumors about what may happen to the valuable land in Loxley. Mr. Burris has been confirming that a WAWA convenience store and gas station bought a portion of the property.

Tourist will miss the big Peach and Strawberry blowups, which captured the eyes of a driver and the hearts of the kids.

Tracking fish with sonar has been available to the public since 1948, when the famous Furuno brothers introduced the product in their native Japan. A 'salty' charter captain might add that it was Lowrance that brought it to the U.S. fishing market. But whomever you credit, NOAA has now combined it with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide better chart mapping and even fish count locations of fish in the gulf. The results could impact local fishing seasons in the future.
