Two Alabama Stars Not Singing The Same Tune

Ella may be choosin' Texas over Riley
Gulf Shores, Ala. — (GSN) — Country music fans are watching a drama unfold between two of the genre's biggest rising stars: Ella Langley and Riley Green. What started as an acclaimed musical partnership behind hit duets like "You Look Like You Love Me" and "Don't Mind If I Do" has turned into a public feud marked by subtle callouts and social media unfollows.
Both artists trace their musical identity back to the heart of Alabama. Langley hails from Hope Hull, a rural community near Montgomery, while Green grew up in Jacksonville, Alabama. Long before achieving country chart dominance, both artists cut their teeth playing local bars, honky-tonks, and iconic Southern venues across the state.
Among these formative stomping grounds was the legendary Flora-Bama—the famous beach bar straddling the Alabama-Florida line known for hosting raw, acoustic country talent. Coming up through the same local circuit gave the pair a shared Southern grit and traditional country sound, making their eventual collaboration feel natural to fans. Riley Green has even performed at local beach concerts in recent years.

Taking Credit: The Spark on The Voice
The tension reached a boiling point following comments made by Green during an appearance on NBC's The Voice. While pitching a duo to join his team, Green pointed to his record with duets and mentioned Langley's career trajectory:
"There was a girl that reminded me a lot of y'all. I took her on tour with me; her name's Ella Langley. She's doing pretty well."
While some listeners viewed the comment as playful banter or dry humor, many fans perceived it as Green taking responsibility for Langley's rapid rise to fame. Shortly after the episode aired, Langley addressed the moment during an Instagram Live session. When a viewer asked if Green taking credit for her success on The Voice rubbed her the wrong way, Langley did not hold back:
"Yeah, when that man took credit... no, didn't love that. But typical... typical. Pretty typical."
Referring to her former duet partner simply as "that man," Langley highlighted a growing disconnect between the two hitmakers.
Adding fuel to the speculation, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Langley officially unfollowed Green on Instagram. While Green continues to follow Langley's account, Langley removed Green from her following list.
The unfollow represents a notable shift for the duo, who spent much of 2023 and 2024 touring together and sharing behind-the-scenes content across social platforms. Although neither artist has released an official statement clarifying the future of their professional relationship, the combination of social media distance and public commentary confirms that the once-close Alabama collaborators are currently at odds.
