Two More Local Restaurants Are Closing

After the summer season some outlets close the doors forever

Gulf Shores Restaurant News

After the tourist season each year there are always a few restaurants which close their doors. This time it is two spots with deep local ties. Both had a long history in the market and were active in the community.

King Neptune's Seafood Restaurant was a family-owned for 25 years in the Gulf Shores market. They were known for their small building size and big shrimp. They closed their doors earlier this season and, as of the date of publishing, have not reopened.

Flying Harpoon 2 was a long standing location along the beach highway as you entered Orange Beach from Gulf Shores. They were know for their quirky events and live music while serving food and drinks. The "Poon" was popular with snowbirds each season as well.

This week they announced the closing in a Facebook post:

It has been one WILD ride but we have reached the end of an era. The Flying Harpoon 2’s last dance will be Sunday October 12th.

We have had more fun, more laughs and have made more friends in the last decade of being open than what any one lifetime deserves. YOU ALL ARE AMAZING and in return you made us an amazing destination on our little island of misfit toys. Thank you to everyone of our employees, past and present, for your dedication, hard work and love!

We were only ever as good as you, and for that we thank you for all of our success. Big Big hugs to The Defrosters for being our ride or die house band since 2012!!! You guys are INCREDIBLE and we love you boys!!!!!

From the bottom of our hearts we thank God for all of the beautiful souls who have walked through our doors and made us, well..”us.” Please enjoy our photo gallery of the tapestry we have woven together over the years…so many smiling faces. We love y’all! Come out and see us, let’s fill these walls for a couple more weeks.  We’ll see you all at The Flying Harpoon Port St Joe !

We know this is hard news for many of you to hear, but to some entrepreneur you may find an incredible opportunity! The Flying Harpoon 2 business is for SALE   and our building is for lease. It would be an incredible legacy to carry on.

The business landscape is ever changing along the coast.
