Saying THANK YOU to the ones who defend our Country

Gulf Shores Veterans News

Did you know the first National Veterans Day Celebration took place in Alabama? Raymond Weeks of Birmingham, Alabama, organized an Armistice Day parade for that city on Nov. 11, 1947, to honor Veterans for their loyal service. Later, U.S. Representative Edward H. Rees of Kansas proposed legislation changing the name of Armistice Day to Veterans Day, to honor all Veterans who have served America.

This week we honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

The average life span of most sea turtles is 50 to 100 years and they often return to their place of birth to deposit eggs for the next generation.

Tracking fish with sonar has been available to the public since 1948, when the famous Furuno brothers introduced the product in their native Japan. A 'salty' charter captain might add that it was Lowrance that brought it to the U.S. fishing market. The results could impact local fishing seasons in the future.
