Parrot Heads arrive and sweet celebrations begin

Each year the Gulf Shores area welcomes the Parrot Heads in Paradise. The week is full of Jimmy Buffet tributes and followers who will already be in costume. Families can look forward to trick-or-treating on the docks at Zeke's Marina or enjoying outdoor cinema nights under the stars, complete with free popcorn. It’s another week filled with small-town charm! Get out there and enjoy.
Monday, October 20th- Themed days of the week are quite popular during the non-summer months here on the Gulf Coast, attracting both loyal locals and visitors. Big Beach Brewery hosts exciting events with live music and a wide variety of cold beverages. On Monday nights from 7 to 9 PM, join in on the fun for trivia night in the taproom, hosted by their beloved neighborhood regular, Shelly Piraino. This week’s trivia theme is TV & Movies, so come and test your knowledge for a chance to win fun prizes and gain recognition. The taproom is open from 4 to 9 PM, so be sure to arrive early and find your spot before the games begin. You can either form your own trivia team with friends or meet new people when you get there. Who's ready for some fun? The Brew will have a small menu available, along with the usual full bar options and a selection of fine seasonal brews. You can choose to eat before, after, or even snack while you play—it's entirely up to you. Good luck and happy gaming.

Wednesday, October 22nd- There's nothing quite like a midweek communal celebration, and 'Midday Melodies' at Heritage Park in downtown Foley is the perfect example. Every Wednesday in October, the city of Foley hosts a musical gathering featuring live entertainment, delicious lunches available for purchase from the Masonic Lodge tent, and a spacious town green where attendees can enjoy the performances without feeling crowded. You also have plenty of options for grabbing lunch before you arrive, as there are various places along the route to the park. Alternatively, if you're on a quick break, you may bring a sack lunch from home. If you plan to stay awhile, you'll be pleased to know that the music lasts for three melodic hours. Event coordinators encourage attendees to bring their own chairs or blankets for comfortable seating, as the event takes place on the open grass and there is no seating available on-site. So, if you're looking for a great way to uplift yourself and others during the week, Midday Melodies is the place to be—a perfect blend of nature, talent, and community. This Wednesday also kicks off at 4 PM the start of “Annual Meeting of the Minds, “Keeping the Party Going.” Join other like-minded attendees or come for the show of it. Going strong all week through Sunday at the Hangout in Gulf Shores.

Saturday, October 25th- As we enter the spooky season, we focus on annual community events that are more about treats than tricks. In a town with a rich maritime heritage and one of the largest fishing fleets along the Gulf Coast, it's no wonder that one of these family-friendly events is hosted right at Zeke's Marina. Many of the vessels from that large fleet at Zeke’s will be decorated and ready for this year's "Trick or Treat on the Docks." This uniquely coastal event promises to blend community festivities with the town's nautical culture, making it a standout occasion on the local calendar. Mo Fishin Bar, adjacent to the marina where the treat-giving will take place, will also be an extension of the event. The stage will feature live music by Jenna McClelland from 5 PM to 10 PM, bar and menu services will be available with some seating, and kids’ open areas for play with oversized games. In addition, exciting Arts and Crafts Tables will be set up for kids to enjoy themed activities. Costumes are more than just photo opportunities at this event; there will be three costume contests! The first is for kids aged 12 and under, the second for adults aged 18 and over, and the third for our furry friends on leashes, all dressed in their best costumes for a chance to win some spooktacular prizes. Come out and celebrate community and good times at this once-a-year event!

Sunday, October 26th- The only thing spooky about ‘Monsters, Inc.’ is the name itself. This beloved children's film is primarily set in the largest scare factory in the monster world and features some very intelligent but precarious monster characters. These monsters soon realize that the world they know is nothing but a scam. They rally together and revitalize their world in an unexpected way, turning the film into a heartwarming story with an important moral lesson. To discover what happens in the monsters' world after a child arrives and shows them how to turn their frowns upside down, join the community for an outdoor screening of ‘Monsters, Inc.’ at Portside on Main at the Wharf. Bring a blanket and settle in on the lawn to get cozy. AMC Theatres will provide complimentary popcorn for the night. Feel free to come dressed in festive costumes or spooky jams. Nearby drinks and light snacks will also be available. The movie starts at 4 PM, enjoy.
