Alabama Crimson Tide Legendary Player and Chaplain To Speak In Orange Beach

Former NFL player and current Chaplain of the Alabama Crimson Tide football team, Jeremiah Castille, is scheduled to speak in Orange Beach on the evening of Aug. 23. The event, open to all ages, will be hosted by the Lower Alabama Young Professionals (LAYP) at the Springhill Suites at The Wharf in conjunction with the Coastal Tailgate Cook-Off

Challenge, happening the following day.


Castille played for the last team coached by the legendary Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant, a year where Castille received All-SEC honors and selection as the MVP of the 1982 Liberty Bowl. His NFL career led him to Denver where he forced a key fumble in the 1987 AFC Championship Game, helping the Broncos punch their ticket to Super Bowl XXII. In 2001 Castille was named Chaplain of the Crimson Tide football team, a role he holds to this day.


“We are so thrilled that Jeremiah will be coming down to speak with us,” said Cory Skipper,

Chairman of the LAYP group. “The skills and leadership traits he learned throughout his long

career, along with his motivational messages, are invaluable.”


Admission into the event is $35. Along with the speaking event, attendees will be granted access

to a tailgate themed appetizer buffet and live cooking demo & sampling from Bill-E’s Small

Batch Bacon out of Fairhope. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed in their best game day

jerseys and attire.

A decorated urn containing human ashes washed up on Gulf Shores beach this past week, starting a mystery that local police have now solved. The container was discovered by people walking along the shore on West Beach on April 17. The urn had no name or identification on the outside.

Allegiant Airlines is scheduled to begin it's round-trip airlines service in May. Initially the flight will service six different cities with direct flights to Gulf Shores. The airport is rapidly finishing work on a new passenger terminal to accommodate the non-stop airline service.
