Gulf Shores News About Beach Safety

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Aviation Unit has teamed up with Gulf Shores and Orange Beach for the third year to enhance beach and water safety. This partnership, celebrated at Gulf State Park, unites state and local officials in their commitment to protecting swimmers.


Senator Chris Elliott announced an additional $400k funding for ALEA’s Aviation Unit, supporting helicopter patrol flights. This collaboration includes lifeguards from Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, providing quick response rescue operations, especially during high-risk periods and holidays.

Local leaders, including Gulf Shores Mayor Robert Craft and Orange Beach Mayor Tony Kennon, praised the interagency efforts, highlighting the program’s efficiency and lifesaving potential.


Gulf Shores Fire Chief Mark Sealy said, “We started this about three years ago. This is just an increase in those efforts that we have already seen.”
