The travel industry has reached a significant milestone with the announcement of a strategic partnership between Allegiant Travel Company and Expedia Group. As of July 2026, Expedia Group serves as the first authorized online travel agency (OTA) to distribute Allegiant flights. This 12-month exclusive agreement integrates Allegiant’s entire network of 566 routes across 124 U.S. cities into the Expedia platform, ensuring that Expedia now offers comprehensive coverage of all U.S. commercial passenger carriers.
Expedia Group owns many hotel and condo booking software companies, including VRBO.
For communities like Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama, the rise of Allegiant has been a central driver of local economic transformation. Since Allegiant launched commercial air service at Gulf Shores International Airport (GUF), the airport has evolved into a vital economic engine. With its growth to 13 nonstop destinations and up to 30 flights per week, the airport has spurred significant activity.
The partnership between Allegiant and Expedia provides a unique opportunity for local property owners. For independent hotel operators and condo rental companies in areas like Gulf Shores, platforms under the Expedia Group umbrella act as critical distribution channels.
Expedia Group owns a massive portfolio of travel brands and metasearch engines. Its consumer-facing portfolio is anchored by three flagship platforms: Expedia, Hotels.com, and the vacation rental giant Vrbo. The Expedia umbrella also includes aggregators like Travelocity, Trivago and Hotwire.
The Expedia Group acts as a massive travel marketplace, operating a wide array of brands that cater to different travel needs and segments. Through this partnership, Allegiant’s inventory becomes accessible across all of Expedia Group’s U.S. brands.
