Live shows and classic cars set for February festival

Gulf Shores News

The Gulf Coast is set to welcome thousands of winter visitors, affectionately known as "Snowbirds," for the 10th Annual Snowbird Fest and Expo on February 4, 2025. The event, which has become a staple of the winter season, will take place at the Orange Beach Event Center located at The Wharf.

Since its inception in 2012, the Snowbird Fest has seen remarkable growth, with recent events attracting over 3,500 attendees and more than 65 exhibitors. Organized by The Snowbird Company, this year's festival is expected to be the largest yet, showcasing the unique culture and warm hospitality of the Gulf Coast.

Festival Highlights

The festivities kick off at 9 a.m., offering a diverse range of entertainment and activities:

  • Musical tributes to Elvis
  • A charming poodle show
  • A family-friendly magic performance
  • Sampling of local cuisine
  • Free coffee from area vendors

Car enthusiasts will be treated to a display of classic vehicles presented by the British Car Club.

The expo area will feature local businesses offering products and services tailored for Snowbirds, including travel, real estate, health, and wellness options. Many vendors will provide special discounts, free samples, and giveaways throughout the day.

Sean Beckham, Founder of The Snowbird Company, emphasized the event's significance: "Snowbird Fest is not just an event—it's a celebration of community and tourism."

While the festival primarily caters to winter visitors, locals are also encouraged to join the festivities. The event showcases the Gulf Coast's thriving tourism industry and community spirit, offering something for everyone – from supporting small businesses to enjoying live entertainment and culinary delights.

Pre-registered guests will enjoy priority entry and be eligible for special prizes and giveaways. Early registration is recommended to ensure a smooth experience.

The Snowbird Company, established in 2003, has been instrumental in connecting Snowbirds with vacation rentals across the United States through its American Snowbird Network. The Snowbird Fest extends this mission beyond digital platforms, creating an in-person event that celebrates the Gulf Coast as a premier destination for winter travelers.

As the Gulf Coast prepares to host this milestone event, both Snowbirds and locals alike can look forward to a day filled with entertainment, community engagement, and the warm hospitality that has made this region a beloved winter haven.

Tracking fish with sonar has been available to the public since 1948, when the famous Furuno brothers introduced the product in their native Japan. A 'salty' charter captain might add that it was Lowrance that brought it to the U.S. fishing market. But whomever you credit, NOAA has now combined it with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide better chart mapping and even fish count locations of fish in the gulf. The results could impact local fishing seasons in the future.
