A popular brewery in the area has changes ownership. The Big Beach Brewery has been in operation since opening its doors in October of 2016. The original founders, Jim and Julie Shamburger, opened the brewery in the Waterway District of Gulf Shores and have obtained national recognition for their original brew recipes.

This week Big Beach Brewery announced that Kevin Corcoran and his wife, Domini, and their longtime friends Doug and Tammy Warren closed on the purchase of the brewery on Monday, April 14, from Jim and Julie Shamburger.

The Shamburgers have written publicly about the location's beginning: "Initially, opening a brewery was just a pipedream. But eventually, we felt convinced that our impressive little beach town was missing out on the high-quality craft brews that we were enjoying elsewhere. It just didn't make sense that a brewery didn't exist here in Gulf Shores. We decided that if we like our beer this much, hopefully the fine folks that visit our taproom will enjoy our beers too. Hence, Big Beach Brewing Company came to life!"

Comments about the new ownership's plans included “We’re going to honor everything they’ve done and just be part of this experience because we love Big Beach, and we love Gulf Shores,” said Kevin Corcoran.

Big Beach Brewery is located in the heart of the new changes to the Gulf Shores Waterway District. Currently the area is under construction while a new pedestrian bridge is being added over the ICW, which lands near the brewery.
