The Bushwacker, the beloved frozen cocktail known for fueling beachside fun, is turning 50, and Flora-Bama is throwing a massive birthday bash to celebrate. If you attend the party you could even win a trip to the Virgin Islands or FREE Bushwackers for a year. The event will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Flora-Bama, Flora-Bama Yacht Club, and Ole River Grill.

While the Bushwacker originated in St. Thomas, it became a Gulf Coast icon thanks to Flora-Bama, where it has been a favorite for decades. To honor the drink’s milestone, event organizers have planned a day full of festivities, including live music, surprise activities, and $5 Bushwackers served all day at each venue.

A major highlight of the celebration is the Golden Bushwacker Hunt. Ten special golden Bushwackers will be hidden around the property—five in the week leading up to the event and five on the big day. Clues will be posted on Flora-Bama’s social media pages. Those who find a golden Bushwacker and bring it to Flora-Bama on May 31 will receive 100 entries into a grand prize raffle.

The grand prize includes a trip to St. Thomas, with airfare and lodging covered, a year’s worth of free Bushwackers, and a $500 Flora-Bama gift card.

Flora-Bama is encouraging fans of the drink to mark their calendars, gather friends, and join in the fun. Whether it’s for the live music, the hunt for golden Bushwackers, or simply sipping on the frozen treat that started it all, the 50th birthday celebration of the Bushwacker promises to be a can’t-miss event.
