The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at Orange Beach City Hall to help meet the ongoing need for blood donations.

The drive will take place on Monday, March 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 4099 Orange Beach Blvd.

Donors will receive a $10 Amazon e-gift card via email as a token of appreciation. Additionally, the Red Cross is offering free A1C testing, commonly used to screen for prediabetes and diabetes, for all successful donations in March. No fasting is required for this test.

The Red Cross emphasizes the importance of maintaining a stable blood supply, especially following recent severe weather events that led to the cancellation of several blood drives. Community participation is vital to ensure that hospitals have the necessary blood products for patients in need.

Donors are reminded to bring a valid ID, wear comfortable clothing, and stay hydrated before and after donating. For more information on eligibility requirements and the donation process, visit the Red Cross website.

Orange Beach City Hall is located at 4099 Orange Beach Blvd.

According to the American Red Cross, When you come in to donate, you help provide lifesaving care to patients in need. But you also receive the added benefit of a free mini-health assessment, provided by a trained Red Cross staff member.

Prior to donating blood, all donors will receive a free health screening. At the time of your donation, your blood pressure, hemoglobin, and pulse will be checked. They record these vitals in your online donor profile where you can track and monitor your results. You can access this information as well as past health information obtained during prior donations, at any time. Your online profile is a great resource to track your health goals and share with your care providers. Your health is an important part of your donor journey and key to continuing to help others in need.
