Texas Roadhouse is now the nation's largest in casual dining

Gulf Shores food news

As you drive through Foley you can expect almost anytime of the day. If you do this in the afternoon you can also expect to see a crowded parking lot at the Texas Roadhouse restaurant which open in August of 2023. The nation chain has gained a new distinction this past week. Texas Roadhouse is now the largest casual dining chain in the U.S..

Restaurant Business Online, which released the report, said the steakhouse chain surpassed Olive Garden in systemwide sales or the total revenue generated by all franchised and corporate-owned restaurants. Per the report, the Italian-American chain was a longtime leader in the category.

Texas Roadhouse was founded in 1993 but not in the State of Texas. The restaurant chain was actually founded in Indiana and is based in the city of Louisville. The publicly traded company (TXRH) has over 700 locations and more than 65,000 employees.

According to Restaurant Business Online, Texas Roadhouse's systemwide sales have reached a little over $5.4 billion, a 14.7 percent increase from the previous year. To put it in location average summary, Texas Roadhouse, as a franchisee, reported average unit volumes or AUVs at over $8 million. AUV refers to the average annual sales of a restaurant or, in layman's terms, just how much a chain is earning per store.

"It has benefited from consumer demand for steak coming out of the pandemic, but has helped its cause by investing in staffing and operations while keeping its prices lower than inflation," Restaurant Business Online wrote.
