Foley's Annual Art Festival Celebrates Mother's Day Weekend

gulf shores area event news

The Foley Art Center is gearing up for the 52nd annual "Art in the Park" event, set to take place, as always, on Mother's Day weekend. Mother’s Day is 3 weeks from today, falling on May 12th. The Art in the Park event takes place May 11th-12th.

This juried fine arts show features over 90 artists and craftspeople from across the Southeast, showcasing their talents in downtown Foley's Heritage Park. The event has grown to attract thousands of attendees each year since its inception in 1971.

In addition to the art displays, this year's event will include more interactive art opportunities and entertainment at the Heritage Park Pavilion on Saturday. The poster and t-shirt artwork were chosen from the student art show held last year, with Jaelynn Nelson, a Foley sixth grader, winning the Linda Koniar young emerging artist award for her paper mosaic rendition of turtles swimming in blue waters.

The Foley Art Center invites the community to come out and enjoy the festivities, whether it's with a mom, friend, or even a pet.

The event will be held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
