Residents Encouraged to Dispose of Unused Medications Safely

National Drug Take Back Day

On April 27th, the Orange Beach Police Department will be hosting a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day event. This event is coordinated by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to provide the public with a safe way to dispose of unused prescription drugs.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Orange Beach Police Department, located at 4480 Orange Beach Blvd. Residents are encouraged to remove any labels from pill bottles and place them in the police department's drop box.

In addition to prescription drugs, the police department will also accept syringes during the event. This is an opportunity for the community to safely dispose of these items and prevent them from ending up in the wrong hands.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is a biannual event organized by the DEA to address the public health and safety issue of prescription drug abuse. By providing a convenient and responsible way to dispose of unused medications, the event aims to reduce the risk of prescription drug misuse and overdose.
