Foley, Ala. — (GSN) — The City of Foley announced that the new Foley Public Library will officially open to the public on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. Located at 230 East Orange Avenue, this new 40,000-square-foot facility replaces the city’s 1984 library building and represents a significant investment in the community’s future.

To facilitate the move to the new location, the current library building at 319 East Laurel Avenue will be closed from Monday, July 13, through Monday, August 3. During this transition, the library’s catalog system for local items will be unavailable; however, digital services will remain fully accessible, and patrons may continue to request items from other Baldwin County libraries for pickup at designated locations.

The book drop at the current East Laurel Avenue location will remain open throughout the move, allowing patrons to return materials at any time.

“This new facility is much more than just a library—it is a community center designed to serve our residents for the next several decades,” said City of Foley officials.

The new two-story building features double the space of the previous location and is equipped with modern amenities designed to foster education, connection, and relaxation, including:

• STEAM/Learning Lab: A dedicated space for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math programming.
• Foley Woman’s Club Sensory Nook: A specially designed room to provide a calming, inclusive environment for visitors.
• Expansive Community Spaces: An auditorium and multipurpose room capable of seating 277 people, alongside additional study rooms and dedicated activity areas for children and teens.
• Second-Story Porch: A relaxing outdoor space overlooking the Perry Wilbourne Antique Rose Trail and the city’s Dog Park.

Following the move, the city plans to renovate the current East Laurel Avenue building to serve as the new municipal Senior Center and administrative offices, further expanding the services available to Foley residents.
