Property planning in the Fort Morgan Road area of Gulf Shores

Gulf Shores Planning Commission

Property owners along Hwy. 180, Fort Morgan Road, were the focus of a Gulf Shores Planning Commission meeting. Most of the agenda items included property zoning, drainage and usage.

The meeting opened with Andy Bauer, City Planning Director, presentation of the Peed Property. The owners were seeking to subdivide the 3.96 acres, located at Hwy. 180 and Callaway Road. The measure carried unanimously by the commission.

Next on the agenda was the Colony at Fort Morgan Subdivision - Phase 2. The developers of this 15.56 acre property sought to allow localized grading on individual lots to accommodate a new drainage plan. The site is a 56 lot subdivision and the new plan will also allow for better life-safety access to the subdivision. The measure carried unanimously by the commission.

Several members of the development team spoke in support of the project while a current Oyster Bay resident spoke about the concerns of the project's design and future.

After discussions of proper drainage (specifically underground retention) and driveways were complete the measure carried unanimously by the commission.
