Freedom Fest Returns To The Wharf In Orange Beach

Festival activities begin on Friday, October 4th, 2024

The 4th Annual Orange Beach Freedom Fest will take place on October 4th & 5th, 2024, at The Wharf. This two-day event will feature various activities, including live music, vendors, and the Bama Coast Cruisin’ car show.


The music lineup includes Tyler Ward, Austin Bishop, Mike Diamond, and Patrick Cross on Friday. On Saturday, attendees will hear performances from Shea and Brandon White, the Ryan Dyer Duo, and the JT McCafferey Band. Music runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.


Food vendors will be offering various options throughout the festival, and there will be arts and crafts booths showcasing a wide range of products. New this year, beer booths will be set up by the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber.


In addition to the entertainment and shopping, military booths and first responder demonstrations will be on-site, along with a Kids' Zone hosted by the Orange Beach Police Department. The Kids' Zone will feature activities and snacks as a fundraiser for the OBPD Benevolent Fund.


The festival will also include Huey helicopter rides at the Orange Beach Sportsplex on both days. Organizers are expecting a big turnout for this event.


Here’s an overview of the weekend activities…


Friday, Oct. 4th - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.:

  • Bama Coast Cruisin' car show on Main Street and portion of Wharf Parkway
  • Kids' Zone by the Ferris wheel
  • Patriotic Military Booths
  • Arts, Crafts and Outdoor vendors as well as Food vendors
  • Live music stage with entertainment provided by the Flora-Bama and CoastAL
  • First Responder Demos
  • Huey helicopter rides at Orange Beach Sportsplex (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)


Saturday, Oct. 5th - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.:

  • Bama Coast Cruisin' car show on Main Street and portion of Wharf Parkway
  • Kids' Zone by the Ferris wheel
  • Patriotic Military Booths
  • Arts, Crafts and Outdoor vendors as well as Food vendors
  • Live music stage with entertainment provided by the Flora-Bama and CoastAL
  • Motorcycle and Jeep Rally
  • Huey helicopter rides at Orange Beach Sportsplex 


Live Music Schedule

The CoastAL/Flora-Bama Music Stage on Saturday will include two full days of music between 9am & 5pm on the vendor side of the festival. 


Friday

  • 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.: Tyler Ward 
  • 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.: Austin Bishop
  • 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.: Mike Diamond
  • 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.: Patrick Cross


Saturday

  • 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. - Mike Diamond 
  • 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. - Shea & Brandon White
  • 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. - Ryan Dyer Duo
  • 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. - JT McCafferey Band


On Saturday night, Country Music singer Jon Pardi will be performing with special guests Larry Fleet + Priscilla Block at The Wharf Amphitheater, as part of the 2024 C Spire Concert Series. Find ticket information at the Wharf's website.

Tracking fish with sonar has been available to the public since 1948, when the famous Furuno brothers introduced the product in their native Japan. A 'salty' charter captain might add that it was Lowrance that brought it to the U.S. fishing market. But whomever you credit, NOAA has now combined it with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide better chart mapping and even fish count locations of fish in the gulf. The results could impact local fishing seasons in the future.

It’s Saturday morning, the second day of the 6A Section 1 Track Meet at Saraland High School. Coach Brewer has piloted the Dolphins bus to this place several times this season, but today a thick, milky fog has engulfed the panorama, limiting the vision of what’s ahead, save for head coach Jason Hill. He’s studied today’s upcoming events and is hopeful for the upset.

A decorated urn containing human ashes washed up on Gulf Shores beach this past week, starting a mystery that local police have now solved. The container was discovered by people walking along the shore on West Beach on April 17. The urn had no name or identification on the outside.
