Dolphins baseball swinging for the fence and for playoffs

Gulf Shores Dolphin Baseball

With major playoff implications on the line the Gulf Shores Dolphin Baseball Team have been on a roll. Most recently they took down the Baldwin County Tigers. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Tigers. The Dolphins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.

MaxPreps Sporting News stated "Not much got past John Luke Stephens, who gave up just a hit to keep Baldwin County off the board. Stephens has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances."

At the plate, Matthew Sylkatis was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Gulf Shores has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 18-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.

The team stated on their social media pages "All eyes now turn to a HUGE series next Thursday & Friday vs. McGill-Toolen with the AREA CHAMPIONSHIP on the line."
