New justice center to be completed by summer of 2026

Gulf Shores Justice Center

The City of Gulf Shores is making steady progress on a major construction project that will transform how law enforcement and judicial services operate in the coastal community. The new Justice Center will bring together the Police Department, Jail and Municipal Courts in one modern facility. Mayor Robert Craft and other city leaders toured the construction site this week to see the progress firsthand. The project represents a significant investment in public safety infrastructure for the growing city.

Construction began at the site of the former Sacred Heart Medical Office Building on Medical Village Boulevard. City officials expect the project to be completed in summer 2026. As of October 2025, the construction is progressing on schedule across multiple phases of the development.

Site preparation work has reached the halfway point. Construction crews have finished most of the earthwork and underground utility installation. Workers have started on parking areas and lighting systems, though landscaping work has not yet begun.

The Vehicle Storage Building is also progressing. The foundation and steel framework are complete. Exterior walls and the roof are nearly finished, and crews have moved inside to begin interior work.

Renovation of the main building has reached a steady midpoint. Most mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are already in place. The roofing work is almost done. Workers are actively installing interior framing and drywall throughout the building.

The detention facility is in its early construction stages. Crews have completed the foundation and installed as is the structural steel. However, the floor slab has not been poured yet. Exterior and interior construction work has not started on the jail portion.

The new Justice Center will provide important benefits for first responders. Police officers and other law enforcement personnel will experience faster response times. The facility will offer safer and more efficient workspaces. Centralized operations will improve communication between departments. The building is designed with room for expansion as the city grows.

Community members will also see advantages from the new facility. Residents will have easier access to police and court services in one location. The modern infrastructure supports the long-term growth of Gulf Shores. City leaders believe the project will create a safer and more connected community.

The Justice Center represents a major step forward in modernizing public safety operations. By bringing multiple departments under one roof, the city aims to improve efficiency and service delivery. The centralized location will make it easier for residents to access the services they need.

City officials plan to share more updates as construction continues through 2026. The project remains on track to meet its summer completion deadline. When finished, the Justice Center will serve as a cornerstone of public safety infrastructure for years to come.
