Over the years locals see many ranking that promote the beauty of Gulf Shore's sugar white sands. Not many of those ranking list have as many followers as U.S. News. Gulf Shores, Alabama, has been named the 5th best beach in the United States for 2024 by U.S. News. Known for its stunning white quartz sand and warm, emerald waters, Gulf Shores attracts beachgoers from around the country and the world. As U. S. News stated, "The city of Gulf Shores offers a range of amenities and attractions that cater to various interests."

The Gulf Shores Main Public Beach, in front of the Hangout, is a favorite among visitors, providing convenient amenities such as showers, volleyball courts, and picnic pavilions. Gulf State Park, with its more than three miles of beautiful beaches, offers a serene escape. However, the park's fishing and education pier is currently closed for repairs following damage from Hurricane Sally. The pier is expected to reopen in the fall.

Gulf Shores' sparkling quartz-grain sand and emerald waters are significant draws, but the city offers much more. The 32-mile Alabama coastline provides ample opportunities for fishing, boating, and dolphin spotting. Families can enjoy a wide variety of attractions, ensuring there is something for everyone.

U. S. News Added: "Tourists can cast a line at Gulf State Park or hop on a boat cruise to spot dolphins. Meanwhile, families with children will appreciate the city's kid-friendly attractions, such as Waterville USA and the local zoo. With an activity to suit any interest, this vacation hot spot isn't one to be missed."

Locals know all the great reasons Gulf Shores makes the list but here is the full U.S. News List.

Tracking fish with sonar has been available to the public since 1948, when the famous Furuno brothers introduced the product in their native Japan. A 'salty' charter captain might add that it was Lowrance that brought it to the U.S. fishing market. But whomever you credit, NOAA has now combined it with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide better chart mapping and even fish count locations of fish in the gulf. The results could impact local fishing seasons in the future.
