Spooktacular Fun at the Shore

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (GSN) — The Halloween season is officially kicking off in Gulf Shores this Saturday with one of the beach community's most beloved annual traditions—the Haunted Hustle. Gathering locals and visitors alike at Gulf Place Town Green and Public Beach, this horrifyingly fun evening brings the island together for fitness, festivities, and fall excitement.
A Favorite Island Tradition for the Whole Family
Widely recognized as one of the top family-friendly events on the island, the Haunted Hustle offers something for costumed participants of all ages. The Town Green comes alive starting at 4:00 p.m. with a live DJ, youth activities, face painting, balloon artists, and games hosted by local businesses handing out candy to trick-or-treaters.
Beyond the races and games, it serves as the ultimate dress rehearsal for Halloween. Attendees get a fantastic chance to test out their costumes in advance—whether strolling, dashing on the sand, or competing in the 5K—ensuring every wig, cape, and accessory is ready for October 31st.
Highlight on the Sand: The Monster Dash
A standout feature of the evening is the Monster Dash Beach Fun Run (also known as the Monster Mash Dash). Setting off at 6:30 p.m., this un-timed fun run takes runners directly onto the soft sand and surf of Gulf Shores Public Beach.
Designed with non-competitive goblins in mind, the beach course is lined with friendly ghouls who cheer on and playfully spook dashers along the way. Every registered participant in the Monster Dash takes home a spooktacular finisher’s medal, an event t-shirt, and a goodie bag.
Parade and 5K Details
In addition to the Monster Dash, attendees can join in the Wicked Walk Costume Parade at 6:00 p.m., where ghouls and witches toss beads and candy around the Town Green. Serious runners and casual walkers can hit the pavement at 7:00 p.m. for the chip-timed Haunted Hustle 5K on a USATF-certified course. Best of all, proceeds from the entire event benefit the Dolphin Foundation for Education and Arts.
