Did you ever walk or ride your bike to school? In order to promote the safe walking and riding paths a national event was created. On October 2nd, schools in Baldwin County will take part in International Walk and Roll to School Day. The event encourages walking or rolling to school as a way to promote healthier, more connected communities.

The Baldwin County Safe Routes to School Coalition is leading the initiative. The coalition includes the Baldwin County Trailblazers, Eastern Shore Metropolitan Planning Organization, Baldwin County Commission, Legislative Delegation, education foundations, and the county’s three public school systems.

The coalition aims to promote safe and active transportation while improving community well-being. By participating, individuals can support healthier habits, reduce traffic, and lessen environmental impact while engaging with their neighborhood.

The event is open to parents, teachers, and other community members. Interested individuals can contact their local schools for details on how to participate. Specific times and locations will vary depending on the school.
