Have There Been More Tornadoes And How It Affects The Gulf Coast

The States of Texas, Arkansas, Iowa, Wisconsin and Oklahoma have been hard in the past month

If you know people in the Midwest States then you should reach out and make sure they are doing well. If you are a local business at the beach you can use your database and let the guests from these area know you are thinking of them. In the first five months the country has seen a 28% increase in tornadoes. Many of these states provide the visitors to our beach community.


The preliminary count for this year of over 859 is the highest since 2017 and is significantly more than the average of 676 through May 21, according to NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma. Nearly 700 of the tornadoes have been in April and May.


These storms not only create winds of up to 250 MPH, but they also bring “Damaging winds and large hail will be the main threats for most of those impacted by the stronger storms" stated NOAA meteorologists.

Tracking fish with sonar has been available to the public since 1948, when the famous Furuno brothers introduced the product in their native Japan. A 'salty' charter captain might add that it was Lowrance that brought it to the U.S. fishing market. But whomever you credit, NOAA has now combined it with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide better chart mapping and even fish count locations of fish in the gulf. The results could impact local fishing seasons in the future.

A decorated urn containing human ashes washed up on Gulf Shores beach this past week, starting a mystery that local police have now solved. The container was discovered by people walking along the shore on West Beach on April 17. The urn had no name or identification on the outside.
