The Annual Orange Beach Invasion is set to take place at The Wharf starting today, March 22nd and running through March 24th, bringing a vibrant assembly of custom and modified vehicles to Orange Beach. While event organizers and the city welcome participants and attendees with open arms, there's a crucial emphasis on adherence to legal standards regarding vehicle modifications.

The Orange Beach Police Department has announced it will stringently enforce laws concerning modified vehicles and aftermarket accessories that may not comply with regulations for operation on public roadways. Attendees are encouraged to review the legal requirements to ensure their vehicles meet the state and local standards, thereby avoiding potential penalties or impoundment.

Key areas of enforcement will include, but are not limited to:

  • Headlight and Tail Lamp Heights: Headlights must be situated no more than 54 inches and no less than 24 inches from the ground, while tail lamps should be within a height of 20 to 60 inches.
  • Lighting Regulations: Vehicles can only employ red, amber, yellow, or white lights, with a specific ban on unapproved light devices, including undercarriage lighting. Tag lights must be white.
  • Noise and Emission Controls: The police will crack down on vehicles with improper mufflers leading to excessive noise or smoke.
  • Vehicle Dimensions and Horn Use: Trucks exceeding a width of 102 inches or a height of 13.5 feet, as well as the use of unreasonably loud or harsh horns, will face penalties.
  • Driving Conduct: The ordinance also covers reckless, careless, and racing behaviors on highways, including a new law targeting motor vehicle speed contests, sideshows, and other exhibitionist driving acts. Such offenses, particularly if conducted on public roadways, can lead to arrest and vehicle impoundment.
  • This enforcement aims not only to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all event participants but also to safeguard the broader community and maintain public order. Vehicle owners planning to attend the Orange Beach Invasion are advised to inspect their vehicles for compliance with the highlighted regulations.

The Orange Beach Invasion is a showcase of automotive customization. These customizations must respect the law and community standards. By adhering to these guidelines, participants can ensure a memorable and trouble-free experience for everyone involved.
