Local residents have enjoyed the surprising works of Janel Hawkins for years. You could visit the beach by Flora-Bama, Gulf Place, Fort Morgan and see her unique creations. People would take pictures and wonder about how long it took her to create a masterpiece out of sand. Best of all, everyone smiles when they see these handcrafted works of art.

Sand Castle University is owned by Jamel and has been the delight of locals and regular visitors for year. The SCU team sometimes appear, unannounced, and leave you something to ponder for the day. Other times they will schedule a fun class for kids and adults so they can learn how to bring out their artistic side using just the sand, water and some imagination.

Sand Castle University has expanded their staff so that they can now reach more visitors and provide more group events. They also make custom sculptures for weddings, local events, birthday parties and much more. Janel has also been featured many times on TV shows and local news.
