Major Development Items on the Orange Beach Agenda

New season and new items on city agenda

City of Orange Beach Agenda

The elections are now over and now it is the time where new council and planning commission members must face some big development questions facing the City of Orange Beach.

On an upcoming agenda a question about the use of the former Romar Baptist Church is on the table. The beachfront property at 23400 Perdido Beach Blvd. was sold and the new owners would like to convert the church into a 100 room hotel.

A plan to subdivide lot three of The Wharf Landing phase two into 12 lots for single-family homes in a gated community. This was deferred from the August meeting.

A request from Bayview Investments to use 3.3 acres at 22321 Canal Road as a laydown yard and outdoor storage area. The parcel is just east of the new bridge on the Intracoastal Waterway.

These and other items have to go through the Planning Commission and then be voted on by the City Council. While residents have the right to voice their opinion about area changes, it carries more impact if they communicate with the commission and council members in advance or while attending a meeting.
