Ranked #1 Girls High School this week by MaxPreps

Orange Beach Softball

The Orange Beach Makos Softball is back atop the rankings. MaxPreps, the leading online platform for high school sports coverage, and owned by CBS Sports, moved the team back to a familiar spot. This week they rose to the top in the nation.

Thomas Frey, the lead softball writer for MaxPreps, wrote about how "M.K. McMullan earns win and bashes first career home run as Makos begin quest for sixth straight state title in Alabama."

He added that after posting a 0.77 ERA as a freshman in 2025 for Orange Beach, M.K. McMullan opened her sophomore season with a win in the circle and a bomb in the batter's box. SEC signees Teagan RevetteKatie King and Ava Hodo along with sophomore Jayde Palmer all had multiple hits in the Makos' opener.

Orange Beach strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on the Satsuma Gators with a sharp 12-2 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Makos also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2025.

Coach Shane Alexander and the staff are attempting the lead the team to yet another consecutive Alabama State Championship.
